Cannasugar has many different uses. You can use it in baked goods, to rim the glasses for cocktails, or my personal favorite, cannabis infused drinks!
- First, decarb your cannabis
- Grind your cannabis into small bits. Try to refrain from grinding it into a powder, as this can have the potential to slip through the cheese cloth or strainer you will be using.
- Place your cannabis on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper into one layer
- Place baking sheet and cannabis in a preheated 240 degree oven.
- Bake for about 20-30 minutes, giving the cannabis a good shake occasionally to allow all sides of the cannabis to be exposed to the heat of the oven.
- Once this is done, your cannabis is ready to infuse!
- Place your decarbed cannabis into a mason or ball jar along with 1 cup of grain alcohol and allow to steep for about 30 minutes shaking the jar periodically.
* 190 proof Everclear seems to be a favorite in the cannabis community for this. If you are in a state like mine, only 151 proof is available to the public. This should not effect your final product, although the 190 proof is preferred.
- Place your cheese cloth or strainer over a heat-safe bowl and strain the alcohol/cannabis mixture. Set your leftover cannabis aside.
4. On another parchment paper lined baking sheet, spread out 1 cup of granulated sugar and slowly pour the infused alcohol over the sugar. Mix together and spread the sugar over the baking sheet again and allow to dry for 12-16 hours. This process will allow the alcohol to evaporate. Once the alcohol smell has dissipated, you’re in business!
